“With spinach shoots pushing through the ground and paper butterflies decorating the walkways of Makupula Secondary School in Stellenbosch, the Kayamandi Vegetable Store Garden was launched on 24 November.”
The next edition of the Young Entrepreneurship Project will take place between 24 June and 5 July 2019! Local and international groups of students will use this week to prepare, visit townships, attend lectures about social impact, etc. One week later, high school learners from participating high schools will come to Stellenbosch University to join the program at that location.
The final business plan presentations by the high school learners will take place in the beginning of July 2019, at the Stellenbosch University campus in South Africa.
After the 2018 YEP finals in July, winning business ideas are now being implemented by high school learners at Makapula Highschool. One of these ideas is to create a vegetable garden, in order to sell healthier food to the local community. Another winning business idea is to produce and sell healthy breakfasts at school. This idea is currently being considered by winning participants. All initiatives are guided by mentoring students that participated in the YEP 2018 project as well as high school officials.
